Centerm is one of the terminals of the Port of Vancouver. The Port of Vancouver is the largest in Canada and connects the nation to the rest of the world. The port spreads across 1,500 hectares of land and a shoreline stretching through hundreds of kilometers with 16,000 hectares of water. The port is the gateway to more than 170 trading economies spread across the world. The volume of trade is a whopping $240 billion in goods.
The Centerm Terminal is a major dock on the eastern side of the Vancouver Port. The terminal is equipped with container cranes and heavy lift gear. There are two large freighters as well. The terminal has facilities for quadruple stack containing. The Centerm Terminal was built in 1958 and it handled 1.94 million containers along with the three other terminals of Vancouver Port.

- Automobile: The terminal handles hundreds of cars daily with the figure standing at an annual capacity of 400,000 vehicles combined with the three other ports. This makes Vancouver Port one of the top 3 ports handling vehicle shipments on North America’s west coast.
- Breakbulk and Project Cargo: Centerm is a major hub for handling breakbulk cargo like forest products, steel, and machinery. It’s a major center for handling such cargo on the west coast of Canada.
- Bulk: Around 2/3rds of the annual tonnage handled at the port comprises dry and liquid bulk. Centerm Terminal has a major role here offering various Canadian commodities that can be exported.
- Containers: Centerm offers container terminals for common use along with the three other Vancouver Port terminals. There are rail facilities available here and with Centerm, container cargo at the terminals accounted for as much as 20% of the port’s annual tonnage.
